Cimarron Layne Corp. was formed in 1989 after its founders, Cory Layne and son, Karl, decided to incorporate their several small part-time home-based network marketing businesses into one full-time business. Starting from their home office in Nashua, NH, they first personally supplied their products to friends and neighbors, local businesses, schools, and community charity organizations. Their attempts to recruit other distributors had been mostly unsuccessful before incorporating, but afterward they were taken more seriously by other professionals and business picked up dramatically.

In 1992 the business was moved to Salt Lake City, UT, and in 2001 an office was set up in Reno, NV. As the Internet grew, the company was able to sell products and sponsor new distributors all over the world. Cimarron Layne now uses the Internet for about 90% of their incoming orders, making it a truly online company once again run entirely from the principals' homes without need for brick-and-mortar offices, warehouses, or other buildings. Most of their current information and software products are in digital format that can be downloaded by their customers, and physical products are either drop-shipped directly from the manufacturers or warehoused and shipped by a commercial drop-shipper.

Cory is now semi-retired and administers the company's finances and accounting from his comfortable motorhome while traveling the country from Maine to Alaska, spending his summers in the north and winters in the south. Trey manages day-to-day operations from his home in Virginia. Other employees and contractors telecommute from their homes around the globe.
